5 Eurofighter Typhoons performing their very best Performance Take Offs at RAF Coningsby. Typhoon PTOs (Performance Take Offs) at RAF Coningsby are reminiscent of the English Electric Lightning, which would leave any spectator stunned.

Both the Typhoon and English Electric Lightning had similar performance where the thrust to weight ratios of both aircraft were a 1:1 ratio, allowing the aircraft to accelerate vertically. The Lbs of thrust produced from the aircraft was more than the weight in Lbs of the aircraft. Of course, the more payload, the less acceleration, but with this sort of power, it doesn't bother them too much.

The Typhoons were using runway 25 and their PTOs went in full reheats produces 20,000lbs of thrust with each of their EJ-200 Rolls-Royce Engines. These Eurofighter Typhoon Performance Take-Off were a mixture of squadrons, 29 Squadron (OCU), 41 Squadron (TES) and XI (F) Squadron.

Aircraft have to request a Performance departure, they are not allowed to execute it without the clearance from ATC. There are many reasons for a PTO, such as a short runway, clear aircraft traffic, barriers, problems on runway, or even just to get to somewhere fast.
