Despite efforts in Senate, the US will continue to support the Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen. Would the resolution have passed, it would have been an unprecedented rebuke of Trump's foreign policy. However, Thursday's vote in the US upper house was won 53 to 45 in favour of overriding support for the coalition, which was short of the required two-thirds majority.
