If you do any kayaking or canoeing on major rivers like the Mississippi, Ohio or Tennessee, at some point you will need to lock through a lock & dam. Many first timers are apprehensive. Not to worry, it's really easy and fun!

Just know that the lock master will never ask you to lock through with a large boat or barge. In all of the 35 locks I have paddled through, our kayaks were the only boats in the chamber. So, fear not and go give it a try!
