Australia is a huge country.
So many diverse climates, landscapes and stories yet to hear or yet to be told. We would like to be part of that story telling.
It has been on our bucket list for a very long time to visit the Red Centre, the iconic Olga's, the impressive Kings Canyon and the majestic Uluru.
This 15 days trek includes a fair few kilometers along the Great Central Road (apparently its a 2700km 'short cut' that links the Queensland coast and the Western Australian coast), where we pass through isolated Aboriginal communities and some breathtaking scenery, including parts of the Finke River and Gary Junction road.
We've joined a happy bunch of like minded Wanderers as we explore what we can in our limited time through Western Australia and the Western parts of central Northern Territory.
Driving to the heart of Australia has been a simple exercise. We pack the 4WD and hired camper and head north-east from Perth, through Kalgoorlie, Laverton, Warburton, Warakurna, Docker River and finishing at Yulara. Camping along the way, warming ourselves by bush fires, cooking in camp ovens, navigating the gravel road (with the use of a HEMA) and seeing the country change as we pass.
In this episode, we head out from El Caballo nice and early and make our leisurely was east though Merredin for morning tea, Yellowdine fro lunch, stopping in Kalgoorlie for coffee and last minute shopping. Camp 1 is at a place called Goonagabbie.
Stay tuned for more episodes as we head our way East on the school holidays 2018.
