Today, I’m going to show how I remove the wheels of my Vespa GTV/GT/GTS at home with basic tools and how to restore the old rusty exhaust to make it look like new again!
In this video you’re going to learn step by step how remove the wheels of a Vespa GTV/GT/GTS without spending any money!
With that, here’s what I’m going to cover in this video.
#1: 1:16 First, I show you how to remove the exhaust.
#2: 2:25 Then, I show you how to disassembled the bracket supporting the rear shock absorber and the muffler (sometime this bracket can seal into the axel very bad and you'll need an special tool to remove it, but here I'll show you a (2:58) secret technic to brake that seal with basic tools at home!
#3: 4:53 Remove the rear wheel by unscrewing the 5 screws indicated in the video.
5:18 The front wheel on a Vespa GT/GTS/LX/S/ET is held on by five Allen head cap screws.
#4: 5:23 With the front wheel off the ground, loosen the wheel bolts with a 6mm Allen wrench or impact.
5:42 Last but not least, I show you how I restore, get rib of the rust and prepare the exhaust for painting.
To refit, carry out the removal operations but in reverse order, observing the prescribed torques. (is alway recommended to applied some Anti-Seize to bolts, fasteners, flanges and other clamped interfaces to prevent galling, seizing and corrosion, as well as lubricating to ease disassembly.) but this time, I used some grease because I didn't have any Anti-Seize at that moment!
