[ Ссылка ] The UN-Arab League joint special envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, has been in talks with President Bashar al-Assad on how to end the country's 21-month-conflict.
When challenged by journalists in Damascus after the meeting, the veteran diplomat declined to give details of a specific plan:
"We exchanged views about the steps that may be taken in the future," he said. "The situation in Syria remains a cause of concern. We hope that all parties will find a solution. All the Syrian people are looking forward to that."
This is Mr Brahimi's third visit to Damascus since being appointed special envoy in August, but he has so far made little progress on a peace process.
