China Mobile and Huawei say their engineers finished building the world’s highest 5G base station on Mount Everest on April 30, 2020, installing the equipment at a base camp at an altitude of 6,500 metres (21,325ft) and providing advanced 5G coverage for most of mountain including its summit.
