This Thursday and Friday, people running in the June 4th local elections will make their candidacies official by registering at the National Election Commission.
Candidates competing for nearly 4-thousand provincial, city and local assembly seats are required to provide personal information such as their educational and professional experience, assets, military service and tax payments.
They'll be able to hit the campaign trail beginning May 22nd.
On Wednesday, the head of the election watchdog vowed to respond swiftly to any reports of illegal campaigning and interference by public officials.
The elections are considered a public litmus test of the Park Geun-hye administration after it came under fire for a perceived inability to handle last month's Sewol-ho ferry accident.
