I previously cleared an area to build my kids fort using a 68" Ratchet Rake mounted on a skid steer. I recently downsized to a 22 horsepower tractor and a 52" Ratchet Rake and decided to clear the remainder of our backyard jungle. One upside of using a smaller machine is that it could fit between the tightly packed trees. Even though the compact tractor has less than half of the power and weight of the skid steer, it was still able to do a great job in the thickest brush. However, with the compact tractor I wasn't able to rip out the 3-4 inch diameter trees in one pass. I found pushing and pulling at the trunk and roots from opposite directions was the best method. @ratchetrakellc
