I've always liked the #Gibson #LesPaul #Studio series of guitars. They are striped down versions of the fancier standards, but generally play and sound close enough for most people. I personally like the feeling of an unbound fretboard - it is a little bit more 'freeing' to play - however, I do like the look of a bound board.

These are guitar thats you don't have to worry about playing. The 50s, 60s, and 70s tribute guitars off p90 or mini humbuckers (depending on the model) but they are interchangeable with this size of route. These are a step above other studios in my eyes.
