The European Union has committed to investing over 45 billion euros to support the bloc's reinforced partnership with Latin America and the Caribbean until 2027.
The EU's new Global Gateway Investment Agenda was presented by European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen at a round table meeting.
The heads of state and government of the EU and CELAC member states are attending the summit, which is co-chaired by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, in his role as CELAC pro tempore President.
The new cooperation and investment agenda will focus on the production of more advanced mRNA vaccines and clean hydrogen.
Ms. von der Leyen reiterated to leaders that Europe aspires to be the partner of choice for Latin America and the Caribbean.
