The trial has begun for Brahim Chnina, whose social media campaign against teacher Samuel Paty allegedly contributed to Paty’s murder in 2020 after he showed caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in a lesson on free speech. Chnina and Abdelhakim Sefrioui, a hardline Islamist leader, are accused of association with a terrorist network. Alongside them, six others stand trial for alleged complicity in the killing. The trial, which will continue until December, aims to uncover the network that prosecutors claim incited hatred against Paty and supported the killer's plans.
