Prague, capital city of Czechia (formerly known as the Czech republic) has the largest public transport system in the country as well as the largest tramcar fleet.
Not surprisingly, in a city renowned for its appearances in many famous films, a lot of them made at the Barrandov Studios in Prague, advertisers are keen to get their messages across on the vast network of tramcar lines that crisscross the city.
Between 2011 and 2016, at the height of the advertising campaigns, it was said that "Prague's tram livery was blue with the logo SAMSUNG with occasional trams in red!"
Putting this production together, even I was astounded by the great number of allover adverts and it has been necessary to split the offering into two, this part covering the Tatra T3s and T6s that found themselves wrapped and, even more astounding is the fact that these photographs cover only one week or two separate weeks in each year.
Covid, of course, put paid to many adverts with a vast proportion of the fleet returning to fleet livery but, since vaccinations have become prevalent and, as the City reopens for business on a grand scale the adverts have returned, many this time, on the Skoda 15T fleet. These will, hopefully, be covered in Part Three when we visit Prague again in April 2022.
Part Two will cover the Tara KT8D5s, the Skoda 14T Elektras and the Skoda 15T ForCity class that had been applied by April 2019 - the last visit.
