Here’s the first teaser track from Nashville-based cosmic roots music band Coyote Motel’s upcoming debut film, The River: A Songwriter’s Stories of the South. The full-length feature film is a journey through the lives, lore, and locales along three great rivers of the American South: the Cumberland, the Mississippi, and the Tallahatchie. It also features the light-art of Darling Lucifer Productions and the aerialists of Suspended Gravity Circus. Directed by Richie Owens of Parlor films and written and conceived by Coyote Motel pack leader Ted Drozdowski, the movie features performance, storytelling, and cultural history, and is a radical psychedelic experience.
“Keep Me In Your Mind” is inspired by the history of the levee camps along the Mississippi River. It features lead vocal performances from Ted Drozdowski and Luella. Nashville-based Coyote Motel is Ted, guitar and vocals; Sean Zywick, bass; Kyra Lachelle Curenton, drums and vocals; Luella (vocals, guitars, and percussion); and Laurie Hoffma, Thememin and glockenspiel. The soundtrack for the crowdfunded film will be available on Dolly Sez Woof recordings in early spring 2024.
Film festival and other screening dates for The River: A Songwriter’s Stories of the South will be announced shortly. Exhibitors interested in screening the film should visit coyotemotel.com, where all screening dates will be posted in advance, for information.
