Verbiage:
Three cameras were set up to compare to each other. Two at 60 frames per second, with one having a progressive scan, and the other interlaced. The last camera is progressive at 30 frames per second. Now to compare the difference with a fast moving object.
Let's slow this down to see the difference better. The right most video is noticeably choppier than the others. Let's see another example. The 30 fps video is very apparent in the quality difference, so then what's the difference between progressive and interlaced?
Every 60th of a second the progressive video captures an entire frame, the interlaced video only captures half the frame in lines like this. To make the video look normal there are deinterlacing methods that assume what pixels are between the new lines recorded.
This however, can lead to artifacts in the footage, as seen in this fence. The progressive video will not have any artifacts since it is capturing the entire picture at once.
