Hi guys! Here's a "vlog" type video where I show you the in between progress on upgrading this engine. Enjoy!
To summarize what I've done:
1. trim mehano chassis to fit onto rivarossi shell
2. replace motor with can motor
3. trim shell to make motor fit
4. replace bulb with LED for headlight
5. add SMD LED to make rear light operational, add lens
6. add drawbar to engine frame
7. add Kadee coupler to rear of tender
8. add metal wheels and pickups to rear of tender
9. drill speaker holes, add speaker to frame
10. add tsunami 750 decoder and super capacitors to tender
11. add plugs for engine/tender connection and headlight/engine connection
12. add weight to various areas in engine
13. paint contacts, exposed weight and motor black
Some corrections...
1. The 0-4-0 with tender is not a C-14 but rather a C-16a class engine. The docksider is the C-16 class.
2. I had also forgot to mention the SMD LED I added to the tender. I drilled out the original molded on rear light, and added an SMD LED, painted the insides of the housing silver, and later added a clear lens to it. I couldve made my life easier with a brass headlight piece, but the original casting was fine, and I didnt feel the need to mess with it.
