Australia and Malaysia have pledged to work together more closely on issues ranging from the economy to security. The foreign ministers of the two countries met in Kuala Lumpur on Jun 28 and discussed a wide range of topics including the digital economy, defence cooperation, cyber security and the crisis in Myanmar. Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong emphasised her government's commitment to ASEAN centrality and sought to allay concerns over her country's commitments to the AUKUS security pact, particularly its nuclear submarine ambitions.
