When it comes to sustainability, one of the main challenges of European cities is the adaptation of existing cities and infrastructure, especially from the energy consumption point of view.
At Petrol we are aware of the importance of energy efficiency in cities. City stakeholders are facing a few common challenges: cost management, running the city infrastructure with limited number of public employees, ensuring »user friendly« services, and creating a highly responsive and sustainable city. From our point of view, sustainable city infrastructure is of vital importance in a smart city. It can be improved through energy efficient management, using renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency.
When talking about city infrastructure, we are giving special emphasis to energy efficient buildings. Buildings use up to 40 percent of energy and cause up to 35 percent of CO2 emissions. When we talk about buildings in cities, we try to apply previously mentioned points (efficient energy management, renewable energy sources, the improvement of energy efficiency) in individual projects of energy retrofit of public and commercial buildings as well as for new constructions. Such solutions include energy retrofit, solar powerplants, using geothermal energy, heating cooling and ventilation solutions, smart lighting and sustainable mobility (e.g. solutions for charging infrastructure for e-mobility).
The silver lining comes with efficient and reliable energy data management, for which we have developed our Tango IIoT platform. Tango takes care of smart management of the infrastructure systems. Solutions, which are based on digitalisation, reliable and checked information, and the efficient use of energy, help cities manage their resources more efficiently and improve their carbon footprint.
At the same time, sustainable mobility represents an important pillar of our strategy. The development of new solutions in the field of electric mobility and mobility services constitutes an important pillar of Petrol's sustainable and innovative business. When it comes to mobility, Petrol focuses on two segments. The first segment is linked to the charging infrastructure, which means setting up, managing and maintaining the infrastructure for the charging of electric vehicles as well as providing the charging service. The second segment is comprised of mobility services, such as operating leases, fleet electrification and fleet management services.
