Spelt Challah Recipe
6 Ingredient Challah recipe:
Challah Recipe (2 medium challahs)
In a mixer (or by hand) mix in ingredients in order:
* 3 + 1/2 cups spelt flour
* 1/4 cup of honey
* 1 Tbsp. dry yeast
* 1 cup warm water
* 1/4 cup oil
* 1/2 Tbsp. salt
kneed all ingredients for 7-10 minutes.
Place dough inside a large bowl, oil spray & cover the dough with a plastic wrap, a bag or a towel, let rise 20 minutes.
Punch in dough, kneed for 1 minute and let rise covered , 1 hour, (oil spray on top of dough to avoid drying).
After dough has about doubled, knead about 2-5 minutes and make shape.
Let rise covered another 15 minutes.
Brush with honey water mixture 👇and bake at 365 degrees F for 20-30 minutes.
Ready when you tap on the challah and it sounds hollow.
👇optional:
🍯Mix 2 tbsp honey with 2 tbsp warm water and glaze as the challah as it comes out of the oven
Basic Rules:
1. Add the salt last so it does not directly touch the yeast.
2. Add water gradually.
3. If wet add flour 1 tbsp. at a time.
4. The more you knead the better.
5. Bake when challah doubles, don't leave out to rise too long.
