Elle Vernon explains how to cook steamed white and brown rice in the Philips All-in-One multicooker.
STEAMED RICE
preparation time: 2 mins
cooking time: 14 mins excluding pressure building and release
Makes 8 cups
4x 180ml measuring cups long grain, basmati or jasmine rice
4x 180ml measuring cups water
STEP 1 Rinse rice under cold running water then transfer into the non-stick inner pot. Pour in water.
STEP 2 Insert pot into the Philips All-In-One multi cooker and turn on at the power point.
STEP 3 Place lid on the cooker and close. Set valve on the lid to seal.
STEP 4 Select Pressure cook. Select Rice. Default time of 14 minutes will appear on the screen. Select Start.
STEP 5 When cooking time is complete, allow to stand for 10 minutes with lid on. Turn valve on the lid to ‘vent’ to allow pressure to release.
STEP 6 Fluff with a fork and serve.
COOKS TIPS
If cooking brown rice, the same recipe applies, with the exception of step 5. Increase standing time from 10 minutes to 20 minutes.
2 cups rice is recommended as the smallest amount, and 14 cups rice as the maximum amount.
THE SIMPLE RICE RATIO: 1 cup rice = 1 cup water
