Vouchers would siphon much-needed funding away from public schools- the heart of rural communities. Vouchers, or Education Savings Accounts, redistribute taxpayer dollars from hard-working rural Texans. Vouchers hurt all Texas public schools, but especially the rural schools that would be left behind. This session, tell your elected officials to reject any type of voucher and to support the heartbeat of our rural communities… our public schools.

Public schools are the heart of rural communities across Texas. They often represent one of the largest area employers. They serve as a primary gathering place for the community. And they stand as a source of support for families in challenging times.
Nearly half of our state’s school districts are in rural areas.
Yet, this legislative session, the threat of voucher proposals that would siphon much-needed funding and resources away from rural schools is real.
Call them Education Savings Accounts.
Call them bracketed vouchers.
Call them carve-outs.
Whatever you call them, they’re still vouchers.
And they would still redistribute taxpayer dollars from hard-working rural Texans to a wealthy few who can already afford to send their children to private schools. Make no mistake: many who would benefit from vouchers already have their children in private schools.
The research and the reality are clear… vouchers would hurt all Texas public schools, but especially the rural schools that would be left behind.
This session, tell your elected officials to reject any type of voucher and to support the heartbeat of our rural communities… our public schools.
