Israel and the PLO are continuing talks on increasing Palestinian self-rule.
But many Israelis angrily oppose any move to grant the P-L-O greater autonomy.
Among them Jewish settlers who clashed with police on Monday.
Hundreds of Israeli settlers clashed with police and soldiers Monday on the West Bank hilltop of Dagan, situated next to the Arab village of El Khader and the Jewish settlement of Efrat.
The residents of the West Bank settlement of Efrat, 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Jerusalem, pitched tents on nearby Dagan Hill about a week ago, declaring it a new Jewish neighborhood.
The government said building there was illegal and issued an evacuation order.
The settlers refused to leave.
The protesters, who reject plans to hand over parts of the West Bank to the Palestinians, sat arm-in-arm on the ground.
Some also chained themselves to water tanks.
The demonstrations come as talks on increasing Palestinian self-rule are being held in the Red Sea resort Eilat.
