Alto The Missa brevis in C major, K 258, was written by Mozart in 1776, when he was serving as court composer to the Archbishop of his native Salzburg. Referred to sometimes as 'Piccolomini' mass, as a reflection of it's duration, this is one of Mozart's shortest masses. The scoring however points to a special occasion, as the name "Spaur" mass' reflects the fact that Mozart is thought to have composed this mass for the consecration of Count Ignaz Joseph von Spaur.
The Kyrie is Allegro, a fast movement in 3/4 time, with constant alternation of full choir and soloists.
