Lake State Railway decided to send one of their SD50-3's paired with an SD70M north to Tawas to help pull a long train 326S from Alpena. About 60 some cars from a previous days Alpena southbound train was left on the main at Palumbo Siding in Tawas so when todays Alpena southbound arrived, it merged it's train together with the previous train creating an all loaded 114 car train to take south. 4303 and 303, a single GP40 slug set, wouldn't have been enough power to make it to Pinconning with the heavy train so 6354 and 6434 swapped from train 327N onto the 114 car train 326S at the siding. This is the second known time now that LSRC has sent six axle locomotives up the Huron Subdivision, all the trackwork that's happened on this line is clearly paying off as for years six axles were restricted because of the poor track conditions. It would've been cool to see these two make it the rest of the way north to Alpena.
