Start Fixin Yo’ Sh!T - [ Ссылка ]
If you have an increase in numbness/tingling/burning/pain down the arm when your arms are overhead or while while sleeping on your side, there is a good chance that the scalene muscles in the side of the neck are tight due to poor posture and lack of shoulder blade strength/control. This “diagnosis” for this issue commonly referred to as TOS #ThoracicOutletSyndrome.
The scalene muscles deep in the neck can become tight from having a rounded upper back, rounded shoulders, and a forward head posture. As a result, these tight muscles can compress the nerves or even some of the veins/arteries that pass between the scalene muscles… this is kind of like stepping on a water hose! This causes the tingling/numbness sensation down the arm to the fingers.
A possible quick fix? Learn how to stretch the scalenes! Do this stretch for 10-60 seconds. Focus on pulling your shoulders down (Reach your fingers to the floor), retract your head, side-bend your head, then look over your shoulder with your mouth open. Opening the mouth will prevent you from stretching another muscle called the platysma. The goal here is to stretch the scalene. Focus on DEEP inhales and FULL exhales. The exhale will lengthen the scalene.
The long-term fix? Address your full body posture like we have talked about in nearly every video. We aren’t joking here… if you focus on improving your FULL BODY movement/posture, you will address any body ache/pain that you have.
