Kaylen was a young girl when she was diagnosed with epilepsy. Her condition caused her to have unprovoked seizures multiple times a month. She tried different medications, but they did little to help, and because of the unpredictability of epileptic seizures, she was unable to work, drive or live independently.
Desperate for a solution to stop her seizures, Kaylen turned to the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, a Level 4 Epilepsy Center – a program offering advanced epilepsy surgery services. The Ohio State epilepsy team mapped her brain to determine the exact location of seizure onset. Kaylen then underwent surgery where her neurosurgeon removed the area of the brain causing the seizures.
Today, Kaylen is seizure-free; she’s back to work and living independently.
