During reclamation last October, TU staff Jason Willis and Tanner Banks helped the Contractor (Frontier Environmental Services) during a revegetation effort at the Monarch Gravel mine site near the top of the pass. The time-lapse shows a full day’s work where most of the upper site was reclaimed through install of erosion control logs and mats, native seed spreading, woodstraw application, and spreading of local slash and fertilizer. Earlier in the project, the entire site was graded and sedimentation catchment structures were installed around the perimeter of the site. The end goal of the project was to increase native vegetation coverage while also reducing sedimentation to the upper South Arkansas River headwaters. These are long, physical days so we were happy to have a full crew helping out.
