In the following week after the last episode of Game of Thrones I visited Northern Ireland and several filming locations of the series including Titanic Studios, the major film studio in Belfast right next to where the ship Titanic was built and where the film props were displayed. The final set for King's Landing was still present. I also went to Castle Ward, the filming location for Winterfell, the Riverlands and the Twins. Near Winterfell I met the dogs Odin and Thor that represented the direwolves Summer and Grey Wind in Game of Thrones. At the ruins of Inch Abbey Robb Stark was crowned King in the North. A quick view at Magheramorne Quarry revealed Castle Black at the Wall. The journey continued to Cushendun Caves also known as Melisandre's cave and the setting for the fight between Jamie Lannister and Euron Greyjoy. Ballintoy Harbour served as filming location for the Iron Islands as well as the beach of Dragonstone. The rope bridge of Carrick-a-Rede was obvioulsy the inspiration for Pyke. Close by at the Larrybane Chalk Quarry Renly Baratheon's camp was established and the Kingsmoot was held. The final stop was at the Dark Hedges, the most famous road in Northern Ireland and filming location for the Kingsroad in Game of Thrones.
