BYD, a global leader in plug-in and battery-electric vehicles, is introducing the BYD SEALION 7 to the European market. This model merges the performance of a sports car with the stylish design of an SUV coupé. It features advanced electric propulsion technology, a spacious interior with premium finishes, a user-friendly interface, and offers the safety and convenience of long-distance travel with fast charging capabilities of up to 230 kW.

Designed at BYD’s Shenzhen studio under the leadership of Global Design Director Wolfgang Egger, the SEALION 7 follows the design language of the Ocean series, seen in models like the DOLPHIN (C-segment) and SEAL (D-segment), adapting it to an SUV coupé form. The result is a vehicle with a strong, athletic appearance combined with a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette. This design, paired with BYD's Blade Battery, ensures impressive range and efficiency.

The “X-style” front end, characteristic of the Ocean series, conveys movement, reflecting the dynamic nature of the SEALION 7. The design is accentuated by "floating" Dual U LED headlights and sculpted curves that evoke the motion of waves.

The vehicle’s profile is both smooth and powerful, featuring a low front end that contrasts with the dynamic roofline, and a dramatic rear end, highlighted by a rear spoiler. The sharp crease along the sides creates a double line at the waist, giving the SUV a sporty stance. The design’s clean lines and efficiency are further emphasized by door handles that remain flush with the body, hidden when the vehicle is in motion.

At the rear, a muscular curve over the wheel arches highlights the car’s athleticism. The wide light signature across the tailgate integrates the latest “water drop” taillights, a signature feature of the Ocean series.

The SEALION 7 is 30 mm longer than the BYD SEAL, with a notable 160 mm increase in height, especially noticeable in the roofline.

The BYD SEALION 7 is powered by a 313 PS (230 kW) engine, delivering 380 Nm of torque. This engine is central to both drivetrain configurations. It powers the rear-wheel-drive Comfort version, enabling the SEALION 7 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 215 km/h.

In the Design AWD and Excellence AWD versions, the 313 PS engine is complemented by an additional 217 hp (160 kW) engine on the front axle, providing all-wheel drive. Together, these powertrains produce a combined 530 hp (390 kW) and 690 Nm of torque. While the top speed remains 215 km/h, these versions can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

The new BYD SEALION 7 comes with two battery capacity options, allowing customers to choose based on performance, range, and accessibility. The rear-wheel-drive Comfort models and the all-wheel-drive Design AWD versions are equipped with an 82.5 kWh Blade Battery. The single-motor Comfort version offers a combined range of 482 km, while the Design AWD with dual motors provides a range of 456 km.

The top-tier Excellence AWD version features a larger 91.3 kWh battery, delivering not only the same performance as the Design AWD but also the longest range of all SEALION 7 models, reaching 502 km on the combined cycle.

All BYD SEALION 7 models come standard with 11 kW three-phase AC charging, with the option to select different DC fast-charging speeds. The Comfort and Design versions can be charged with DC power at up to 150 kW, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in just 32 minutes. The Excellence AWD, with its larger battery, supports up to 230 kW DC fast-charging, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in just 24 minutes.
