(9 Mar 2015) The Foreign Minister of Lithuania is in Washington for talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry and other State Department officials.
Linas Linkevicius arrived after a weekend of talks with other EU foreign ministers over the crisis in Ukraine.
During welcoming statements, Kerry noted how important Lithuania is as a partner in NATO.
He also noted how strong Lithuania is in urging the agreements of the Minsk cease fire agreement to be upheld.
Linkevicius noted the areas of common interest between the two countries, and also that Lithuania looks to Washington for help in containing Russian aggression.
Linkevicius was outspoken over the weekend during the European Union foreign ministers meeting.
He criticized the organization for failing to confront Russian domination in eastern Europe.
