The Tanami Football League is a community-run competition in Yuendumu, a remote Indigenous town almost 300kms from Alice Springs. It involves teams from neighbouring Indigenous communities; Laramba, Mt Allan, Nyirripi and Willowra, as well as Yuendumu. These communities share a rich history, sometimes as friends and sometimes defined by different tribal lines much like when it comes to footy. Usually played over the summer months, the 2019/20 season was interrupted by COVID-19, so when play resumed last week it was a little colder than the players would've preferred. But the action didn't disappoint, culminating in a five-point grand final between the Central Bulldogs and Laramba Roos! #territoryfooty #remotefooty
