Whilst out taking video and photos out near Hearhrow Airport I took (amongst others) 3 pictures of the police station at Heathrow Airport.
Mainly because I exercised my rights and chose not to answer their questions to their liking, I was then detained under section 43 of the Terrorism Act 2000. This allows the police to stop and search anyone they 'REASONABLY SUSPECT' to be a TERRORIST. This includes looking at the photos I took.
I find it sad that taking 3 photos in the space of a few mins means that I am reasonably suspected of being a terrorist. It's not as though I had been there for ages, taking photos of personel, vehicles, exits, entrances, and CCTV locations.
I was also dissapointed that the officer thought that under the powers of a section 43 stop he could demand or vefity my identity. He cannot.
Section 43 is a power to stop and search, not a stop and ID power
It was also dissapointing that he thought sec 43 allowed him to fingerprint me without my consent.
Again, sec 43 does NOT give powers to fingerprint people.
I will upload the rest of the interaction when I have cleared some space on my phone. The editing software requires some space to export the video, and my phone is pretty full up.
There is more copsplaining, and some selective reading from their Code of Practice which governs the use of Section 43 and other Terrorism Act legislation.
Thanks for your patience......
