The first Death Star is one of the most powerful weapons in the Star Wars Galaxy. But did you know who was responsible for pulling the final trigger?

Tenn Grannet was an imperial gunner who in the time of the Clone Wars dreamed of operating state of the art heavy weaponry. He got his wish years later when he rose through the ranks of the empire eventually finding himself on the crew of the Death Star firing mechanism. He initially believed that the Empire would simply use the super weapon to instill fear among their enemies. To Tenn’s horror this was the furthest from the truth. Shortly after his involvement in the destruction of a rebel capital ship he began questioning the Empire’s use of such an unbelievably powerful weapon.

Ultimately leading to the show down between Tarkin and Leia when the Grand Moff gave the order to destroy the planet Alderaan. After annihilating an entire planet with the pull of a switch and knowing he’d caused the death of billions Grannet began hating the empire and his hand in it. This resulted in him hestitating to fire when the time came to destroy the planet Yavin 4, just giving Luke enough time to destroy the station and Grannet along with it.
