*** For years, health authorities in Guyana have been trying to prevent women from dying during their pregnancies and while giving birth. Though the number of maternal deaths has been declining, at the end of last year, a total of 17 maternal deaths were recorded. In this edition of the News Room’s Insider, we take a look at some of the factors contributing to maternal deaths in Guyana and what is being done to prevent them.
