Each year, a featured adaptive athlete participates in the Gaylord Gauntlet 5k & Obstacle Run and is supported through the course by a team from the Gaylord Sports Association (gaylord.org/sports). This year's athlete was Natalie Matarazzo. Natalie had a spinal cord injury as the result of a car accident and is partially paralyzed from the waist down. She completed the course after battling torrential rain, mud, and challenging obstacles. Natalie, as with our many other adaptive athletes, has found that she could do far more than she ever thought possible, both physically and mentally. Proceeds from the Gauntlet support the Gaylord Sports Association, which provides more than 20 adaptive sports for individuals with a permanent physical or visual disability.
