Inequality poses a major challenge worldwide and is deeply rooted in societal norms. Sustainable economic development hinges on equal opportunities, yet disparities persists from childhood, upon entering the labor market and within workplaces.
In his dissertation, Claude Raisaro examined the drivers of inequality, what policies would help reduce them and by what means the transition away from harmful norms can be promoted. His research focuses on low-income settings, which led him to conduct studies in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.
With his outstanding dissertation, Claude Raisaro makes a crucial contribution towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals SDG 3 “Good Health and Well-Being”, SDG 4 “Quality Education”, SDG 5 “Gender Equality”, SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, SDG 10 “Reduced Inequalities”, SDG 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities” and SDG 13 “Climate Action. For this reason, he was honoured with this year’s SDG Impact Award at Doctoral level.
