Michael Cretu's masterpiece - I Love You ... I'll Kill You
Album: The Cross Of Changes - 1993
(Guitar - Jens Gad)
The long guitar solos on 'I Love You ... I'll Kill You' are probably amongst Jens' highlights in released guitar work. The first part is played with a so called 'e-bow' (a little battery powered box that is held over the strings of the guitar and keeps the string in motion. so the guitar can be played by solely moving your fingers over the frets) and the second part of the solo features a long distorted passage, played with a Wah Wah Crybaby, a distortion pedal and a custom made Marshall stack (by German guitar specialist Peter Weihe).
For these solos Michael actually moved the wah wah pedal while Jens was playing the guitar. It was a loud and crazy scenario, almost like being on stage together.
(Samples)
I Love You ... I'll Kill You contains samples from Fading Lights from the Genesis album, We Can't Dance and samples of the harmonica of the song "The Wizard" by Black Sabbath.
