Join Museum Volunteer Steve Chalker as he takes a closer look at the origins and activities of the Civil Defense organizations active in the United Kingdom during the Blitz. From the issuance of gas masks and pre-fabricated air-raid shelters to the upkeep of local public shelters and the provision of first aid to casualties, Chalker will explore how, in one of the darkest periods of British history, civilians fought on the home front as hard as soldiers fought on the front lines.
