Every automatic transmission valve body will wear out over time. Some are more notorious than others. Some wear can lead to massive failures, like on the previous generation of ZF transmission that was used in the BMW 3-series, the 5HP19. In the case of the 6HP19, you just have drivability issues, which is what I have. Basically the shifts are slow, especially the 1st to 2nd shift. There's a noticeable lag and it was very annoying, so I decided to purchase a rebuild valve body from Central Valve Bodies:
