As a young woman, my mother won numerous cups and medals for her singing. While she gave almost all of them to the Catholic missions, I still have one small cup and medal. On the medal it reads: "Lasting is the song, though he, the singer passes". Sadly, my mother, Peggy Getling (born Margaret Howlin, in Dublin on 02/11/1922), passed away on 20/01/2013. But, many years ago, I had an old 78 record of her singing copied onto a CD. While she is now gone, two of her songs remain. This one is The Fairy Tales of Ireland. The other one, which I've also placed on YouTube, is The Holy City. I hope you enjoy them. She had a wonderful voice, and she was a wonderful mother.
