Mentimeter has become one of my favourite technology is when I'm working with students or when I'm training teachers. What I particularly like about mentimeter is that it offers a whole variety of different activities. It basically allows you to get your audience to engage with you when you are presenting or teaching. So you can set up activities like voting, setting question 2, asking for opinions, asking students to rank things, asking students to write things. you can create a whole range of different questions and then share the link with the students so that the students can click on the link and answer the questions. But you also have the option to allow the students to answer the questions on their telephone by Simply going to menti.com and adding the correct code.
So Mentimeter is one of the ideal tools if you are looking to get your students to collaborate and work together. It's a great way for example of collecting students opinions on ideas you can simply get them to add in their opinions and then all the ideas can be collected together in one place and then displayed on the screen. What is particularly interesting about mentimeter is the number of options that you get in the free tour. There is no limit on the number of presentations that you create and you can have up to three questions in each presentation. I use mentimeter all the time. For example I use it as a warmer activity. If I want to get the opinions of the students I'll get them to answer a particular question. I also like to check understanding after I've given up a presentation or a lesson. but it's also great if you want to survey your students and understand what they think about a particular topic.
Mentimeter has a number of interesting options and in this advanced set of training videos I go into detail about some of the things that mentimeter can do if you want to work with the advanced options. Mentimeter for example has a grey Q&A option so at the end of a presentation you can get your students to think of questions they want to share with you. They can do this through mentimeter and all of the questions are added together in one place. Mentimeter has proved a very popular tool when working in hybrid learning as well as blended learning and flipped classroom learning. Remember you can access the questions that you create in a mentimeter either on a telephone or through a computer. So it's ideal for a classroom situation but also ideal if you are teaching online with a group of students.
When it comes to quick participation with students in the classroom and opportunities to collaborate and work together then I think that mentimeter is one of the most effective technologies. There are other really good technologies that do the same thing but very few offer as many options as mentimeter when working with the free tool.
