Labour leader Ed Miliband defends his pledge to freeze energy prices until 2017 if he becomes Prime Minister at the next General Election, saying he is going to "call time on this market".
Speaking at a Q&A session at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton, Mr Miliband defended his policy announcements from his speech yesterday and his pledge to freeze energy prices until 2017 if he becomes Prime Minister.
"Now of course the energy companies don't like what I announced yesterday, and it doesn't surprise me.
"But we are going to make this market work again for people in Britain."
His surprise announcement at the Labour conference in Brighton yesterday was greeted with horror by gas and electricity suppliers, with predictions that firms deprived of the power to set their own prices would be in danger of "economic ruin".
