The Aussie Fisherman Greg, fishing for giant crabs in North Queensland waters. I like to check each mudcrab to see if it's a A grade or B grade or a release one. I show in the video how to check if the crab is full of meat or a empty one. I only take the A and B grade mudcrabs, I release the rest and let them fill up with meat. It's a shame to take the empty crabs, the real soft ones only take a few weeks and they will be full of meat.
I like to use mullet heads for bait but anything fresh is good.
Next pot was in a gully I have caught lots of crabs over the years, it's probably one of my favourites, so I don't mind going so far up the gully to do the crabpot. Today was a little bit disappointing only one crab, still it's better than no crabs.
One thing I have learnt over all the years I have been fishing and crabbing, their is no guarantees when it comes to catching fish or crabs out of the ocean. It's a combination of knowledge, experience and bloody good luck. Haha.
