Ganapriya Academy Of Music, Dance and Drama Presents
Vaaram Oru Paadal
3rd November 2024 - Day 78
Director: "Ganakala Shiromani" Dr B Govindarajan
On account of Kandha Shashti Celebrations, today we will listen to "Senapate", a composition attributed to Muthuswami Dikshitar, in Ragam Panthuvarali, Adi Thalam, rendered by Vid. Surya Sriram.
In this song, Dikshitar seeks the protection of Lord Muruga, who is the Senapati (Commander in Chief) of the gods.
Lord Murugan is Guruguha, the preceptor who taught the meaning of the Pranava Mantra, and is bedecked with several ornaments of gold and gemstones. He is the consort of Valli and Devasena and is adept in blessing us with all our desires. He has the Velayudham, and the rooster on his flag, and resides in the abode of Lord Shiva.
