In this video, Dr Reubina Singh is explaining about the importance of getting infertility treated before it is too late. She explains that if women between the age of 25-35 or 35 and above have been trying to conceive for more than 6 months or a year, but are failing every time, it is time that they should consult the IVF specialist and get infertility treated. She says that delaying the infertility treatment sometimes reduces the chances of becoming pregnant.
During the video, she further explains that sometimes there are certain causes of infertility that keeps deteriorating with the passing time. And these conditions require immediate treatment.
The first cause that she explains is
1. Bilateral Tubal Block: is the problem where the tubes are blocked and in such cases pregnancy without treatment is impossible. The fallopian tubes are female reproductive organs that connect the ovaries and the uterus. If a fallopian tube is blocked, it blocks the passage of sperm to reach the eggs, as well as the path back to the uterus for the fertilized egg. Common causes of blocked fallopian tubes include scar tissue, infection, and pelvic adhesions.
2. Premature Ovarian Failure: talking about the second common cause for infertility, Dr. Reubina Singh explains that this condition appears when there are no eggs in the ovary. Usually women between the age of 42-50 experience menopause when their ovaries stop producing eggs. However, sometimes, a few women experience premature ovarian failure, where the ovaries stop producing eggs at an early age between 24-35. The reason for this can be many. One among them is the family history of POF. Dr Reubina Singh tells that this condition is completely treatable and women suffering from POF can also conceive with the help of IVF treatment.
3. Azoospermia: just like female POF infertility in women, men can also face infertility problems like Azoospermia, where the male semen does not contain sperm. Similar to POF, the Azoosoermia infertility problem can also be treated.
Giving hope to the parents lost all faith in planning for a baby, Dr. Reubina Singh tells that if you have been trying to conceive for more than a year or one and a half year and still facing failure, you should visit an IVF specialist. Addressing the fears of the couples, she reassures that, consulting an IVF specialist does not always mean that you will have to get an IVF done.
Explaining about the fears of the couples, she explains that, they need to get out of their comfort zone and visit the doctor. You may be worried about the failure of the process, or facing financial pressure or feel awkward to address your infertility problems or maybe you are not aware of the ways and infertility treatments. Whatever may be the reason, nothing could be more troublesome than the feeling of not being able to conceive.
The initial stage will only include getting the details of your medical history, then will advise you a series of important hormonal tests like FSH, LH, AMH, Thyroid, and Prolactin. The IVF specialist will also do your baseline ultrasound and the semen analysis of your husband.
Talking about the importance of treating infertility in time, Dr. Reubina Singh the IVF specialist, explains that with the growing age, the chances of getting pregnant reduces. But age is not a disease and you cannot treat it. She tells that according to the research, the quality of the sperm also deteriorates with the advancing age. As your age increases, there are high chances of DNA fragmentation or DNA damage of the sperm. These conditions can not only cause infertility but can also lead to birth defects in babies.
Further explaining the risk of delaying the infertility treatment, she explains that the DNA damage due to the advancing age can cause psychiatric conditions in the babies. DNA fragmentation also increases the chance of miscarriage and reduces the chance of a healthy pregnancy.
