Jean-Philippe Uzan is a French cosmologist, research director at the French National Centre for Scientific Research. He obtained his PhD in 1998 under the direction of Nathalie Deruelle then obtained a position in the laboratory of theoretical physics at the University of Paris XI, Orsay. He was subsequently assigned to the Astrophysical Institute in Paris. During the conference "The Causal Universe" organized by Copernicus Center for Interdisciplinary Studies Professor Uzan was asked about the limits of scientific explanation as well as the meaning of "causality" in contemporary physics.
