While Sicily is not very popular with cyclotourists, we found pleasant quiet roads, impressive landscapes and a rich history. We invite you to immerse yourself in our trip in April 2024. WARNING: THE 'ITALY-CYCLING-GUIDE' WEBSITE MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO IS NOT ANYMORE AVAILABLE SINCE OCTOBER 2024.

For this trip we followed the SIBIT route, which is over 560 km in a well-distributed succession of hills adding up to 4500 meters of positive elevation gain. Our main source of information for this trip was the ‘Italy Cycling Guide’ (although not available anymore since october 2024) to which we add the following few comments based on our experience:
1. In terms of signage, we haven’t seen a single SIBIT sign before Scoglitti but there were plenty afterwards. That’s why bringing a GPX is valuable. Here is our GPX: [ Ссылка ]
2. After leaving San Leone, we wanted to take a quiet road (SP71) south of the SS115. Unfortunately, road SP71 was completely closed even to cyclists because of reparation, so we took SS115 and crossed two painful tunnels. Instead, we suggest taking SP64, north of SS115.
3. We didn’t climbed to Ragusa although we wanted to see that city. We stayed on the coast using the SIBIT which was really nice and we stopped 2 nights in the nice town of Marina di Ragusa. We were happy to find a bus to Ragusa and Modica, which allowed us visiting a world heritage city without the burden of climbing on a busy road.
Our favorite part was the 3 last days before Siracusa. Roads were quiet, cleaner and towns were in a better condition than on the west part of the island. Ciao !
