Started this project a few months ago for a client that needed viscous coupler rebuilds for a Lamborghini Murcielago and Gallardo. During the rebuild process involving cutting these couplers apart and replacing internally damaged seals, o rings, and plates, we decided to scan and model the assembly to offer an aftermarket version that would alleviate the need to cut and weld these assemblies back together and tap the top and bottom of the assembly for fill and drain ports. This new Lamborghini coupler was made in collaboration with @gteengineering. It was designed to be a replacement for the Lamborghini Murcielago, Gallardo, and Audi R8 front differential Viscous couplers and is a new Billet serviceable part that allows easy configuration changes, serviceability, and rebuilding of the front diff viscous coupler.
The OEM units cost 12,043 USD from any authorized dealer and come equipped with 30K CST Viscous Fluid. Used versions can be purchased for 7500 USD and could be plagued with the same issues as the one you are replacing. So, we designed a Billet replacement unit to support motorsports and OEM with more robust internal components and the same technology we used to create the RT4WD Viscous Coupler. Using our 20T Stamping press and a custom high tolerance mold, we have developed new Viscous Coupler internal plates for this assembly as well as offering tighter fitment to reduce leaks and bypassing of the plates at the shaft and inner teeth of the coupler body, forcing higher efficiency of the viscous effect thru the plates transferred to the wheels.
This Billet high-performance unit will be available for under $6,000 USD and is meant to replace the #01S409435 Lamborghini part number. It will be distributed through #GTEEngineering. It will support Audi R8s equipped with the 5.2L V10 AWD drivetrain and the Lamborghini Gallardo from 03-07, 01-06 Murciélago base, Murciélago Roadster 04-06, 06-10 Murciélago LP640 and Murciélago LP640 Roadster.
