Benefits Data Trust (BDT) hosted a webinar on March 21, 2023 about college students’ access to public benefit programs and a new resource, “Benefits Access for Student Success: A Toolkit for Leveraging Data to Find Eligible Students.” Colleges hold data that can help them find and inform students who are likely eligible for federal programs that help pay for food, healthcare, internet service and other expenses that contribute to the high cost of college.
Neeta Sonalkar, Director of Higher Education Innovation at BDT, facilitated a conversation among higher education leaders who have experience using data to identify and inform students on campus who are likely eligible for benefit programs. The panelists include:
Angela Johnson, Vice President of Enrollment Management, Cuyahoga Community College
Dr. Mary Utter, Dean of Students, Community College of Allegheny County
Dr. Rashida Crutchfield, Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) and Executive Director of the Center for Equitable Higher Education
