Starlings are probably one of my favourite birds, mainly because of how they murmurate. Starlings murmurate in the winter evenings before they roost. Nobody's really sure why, but there are plenty of theories. Maybe they're keeping warm, or checking everyone is present and correct, or maybe they're just really social and love to have fun. Whatever the reason, the shapes they make in the sky are incredible, and you absolutely have to get somewhere to see it for yourself.
